[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Regarding the KT network outage that occurred on the morning of the 25th, the police have sent investigators to KT headquarters to begin a full-scale investigation.

The Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency has dispatched five members of the cyberterrorism team to KT headquarters located in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, to review network-related data. The police are currently identifying the cause of the network outage and the extent of the damage.

A police official stated, "Given the seriousness of the matter, we instructed the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency, which can quickly reach KT headquarters, to assess the situation, and the cyberterrorism team immediately dispatched. If there is any suspicion of criminal activity, a pre-indictment investigation (internal inquiry) will be conducted."

Starting around 11 a.m. that day, a network outage occurred at KT, causing significant inconvenience nationwide. The outage affected not only public institutions but also major corporate servers, leading to operational disruptions.

KT has identified the cause of the network outage as a large-scale DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack and has activated its crisis management committee to respond. KT stated, "We will do our best for a swift recovery."
