"Leading the 4th Industrial Revolution"... Inha University Graduate School of Engineering Establishes New Majors in Optical Technology Convergence and Future Automotive Engineering Inha University

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Inha University Graduate School of Engineering announced on the 25th that it will establish 'Optical Technology Convergence Major' and 'Future Automotive Engineering Major' in the Department of Future Convergence Technology to nurture talents leading the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

These majors are core fields of the 4th Industrial Revolution and aim to cultivate convergence-type talents with global competitiveness through research guidance that responds to the latest technology trends and industrial demands.

New students will be admitted in the first semester of the 2022 academic year. Applications will be accepted from the 1st to the 19th of next month, and the announcement of successful candidates will be on December 9th.

The Optical Technology Convergence Major trains specialists who research and develop core element technologies applied and converged in displays, semiconductors, sensors, etc., through optical technology. It offers a high-level curriculum for developing leading technologies in future new industries, with courses related to optical technology such as geometrical optics, physical optics, laser optics, display optics, electromagnetics, and thin-film optics, from basic to advanced levels.

The Future Automotive Engineering Major leads the development of automotive convergence technologies such as autonomous vehicles/connected cars, vehicle semiconductors, and information and communication technology (ICT) related to electric vehicles/hydrogen electric vehicles.

It operates various courses related to smart mobility driving technology, sensors and communication technology of driving vehicles, artificial intelligence and cognitive engineering of autonomous vehicles, etc. Through partnerships with local governments in the Incheon area, regional organizations, public enterprises, and private companies related to future automotive engineering, exchanges and cooperation in curriculum and academic operations will also be carried out.

Namhee Cho, Dean of Inha University Graduate School of Engineering, said, "Our society is currently at a very important point where we must actively prepare for the upcoming era of the 4th Industrial Revolution," adding, "The newly established majors, along with existing majors such as Big Data, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence Convergence, are expected to produce a high level of synergy through engineering technology education of a very new paradigm."

Detailed information such as recruitment guidelines for each major can be found on the Inha University Graduate School of Engineering website.
