Tuberculosis and Farm Disinfection Hygiene Inspection... Negative Results and Excellent Farm Management Evaluation
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Gangwon-do Animal Hygiene Testing Center announced on the 25th that it has completed the certification of tuberculosis-negative (-) dairy farms for 41 dairy farms in Gangwon-do this year.
'Bovine tuberculosis' is a legally designated Category 2 livestock infectious disease and is a zoonotic disease that can also infect humans.
According to the Hygiene Testing Center, based on two tuberculosis tests (PPD intradermal test, gamma interferon test) conducted on farms applying for negative certification this year, as well as inspections of farm disinfection, hygiene, and feeding management, all farms were evaluated as tuberculosis-negative and excellent in farm management, thus passing the certification.
Certified farms are exempt from the mandatory annual tuberculosis test for the next two years and receive benefits such as certification plaques and support for mastitis treatment supplies.
The province aims to certify 50 tuberculosis-negative dairy farms by 2025, and has achieved a cumulative total of 41 certified farms, exceeding this year's target of 39 farms by 2.
