[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 25th that, as part of the "Safe Travel Campaign in Korea" conducted with 17 local governments since June, it released a new promotional video for the safe travel campaign on the 22nd, aligned with the transition to "gradual daily recovery," and will begin full-scale campaign promotion.
The new video was produced to promote the message of continuing safe travel that considers both travel and safety during the gradual daily recovery period. The video introduces the changed travel trends due to COVID-19, such as short-distance, small-group, and rest-focused travel, and explains six personal quarantine rules to follow when traveling (using personal items, takeout visits, hand sanitizing, wearing masks, social distancing, and visit certification). The video features a virtual influencer named "Rui." Rui delivers a message of healing and comfort in the autumn atmosphere through the background music covering singer Yoon Do-hyun's "In Front of the Autumn Post Office" and scenic views of tourist spots.
The video can be viewed on the Korea Tourism Organization’s "Korea All Over" YouTube channel and social networking services (SNS). Throughout November, it will also be broadcast on about 200 outdoor electronic billboards of the government and the Korea National Park Service, as well as in government and public institution civil service offices.
Meanwhile, to promote the campaign, the Korea Tourism Organization is conducting an event in cooperation with T Map Mobility Co., Ltd. until November 14, where 3,000 visitors to quarantine-excellent tourist sites will be selected by lottery to receive prizes. On the T Map event page, participants set one of the 178 quarantine-excellent tourist sites selected through recommendations from 17 local governments as their destination, and upon arrival following the route, they are entered into the event. Detailed event information and the list of quarantine-excellent tourist sites can also be found on the Korea All Over app and website.
Jung Hye-kyung, head of the Safe Travel Department at the Tourism Welfare Center of the Korea Tourism Organization, requested cooperation, saying, "At the point of transition in the quarantine system, as domestic travel demand increases and concerns about the spread of infectious diseases arise, we hope that both tourist sites and tourists will comply with quarantine rules and participate in creating a culture of safe travel."
