"If You're Just Going to Give a 'Dog Apology' Again, Don't Apologize at All...Disappear at This Point"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential primary candidate, for saying that "elections are a family business," stating that he "belittled the sacred exercise of the people's sovereignty as a family business."
On the 24th, Jeong posted on his Facebook with the title "Yoon Seok-yeol, elections are a family business? The worst remark," expressing this view.
Jeong said, "Elections are the sacred exercise of the people's sovereign rights. Politics is decision-making or all acts of decision-making. Elections are political acts that prove the owner of the country is not a king but the people." He added, "(Yoon's family business remark) is an insult to elections and the people. Mr. Yoon Seok-yeol, this is beneath you. Stop at this point," raising his voice.
He continued, "If elections are a family business, is the president the CEO of a family company? Are you saying you will seize power to establish a family company with your mother-in-law and wife?" He sarcastically added, "Yoon Seok-yeol is a strange man in a strange country. I thought he liked swords, but it seems he also loves money."
Finally, Jeong said, "If you are going to apologize again with a 'dog apology' for this remark, then don't apologize at all." He added, "Mr. Yoon Seok-yeol, do you think the people are that foolish? You are not qualified to be a presidential candidate, let alone a citizen. Please quietly disappear at this point. As one of the people, I am truly displeased. I feel bad. You are a truly bad person."
Meanwhile, on the same day, after announcing his campaign staff appointments at the National Assembly, Yoon responded to a question from reporters about whether his wife, Kim Geon-hee, was involved in the 'dog apology' he posted on social media (SNS), saying, "Isn't it common to say that elections are, so to speak, a family business?"
