BTS Holds Online Concert After One Year... "Spring Day Is Not Far Away"

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] "Globally, the (COVID-19) situation seems to be improving, so I feel like we will be able to meet soon. Just like the lyrics of 'Spring Day,' we will come to see you, so please wait a little longer." (J-Hope)

The group BTS successfully concluded their online concert after a year. On the 24th at 6:30 PM, BTS held the online streaming concert 'BTS Permission to Dance On Stage' at the Jamsil Main Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul. It was about a year since they held 'BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E' via live streaming in October last year. This was their first stage in a large stadium in two years since the 'BTS WORLD TOUR 'LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF' [THE FINAL]' held in October 2019.

This concert was planned with a focus on interaction with the audience as it was a new series of concerts. BTS carefully selected songs suitable for a large-scale venue. For the opening, BTS chose 'ON,' 'Bultaoreune (FIRE),' and 'Jjeoreo.'

After the opening, leader RM raised the atmosphere by saying, "I will save the first comment I was supposed to make for the day we meet again. Welcome sincerely to everyone attending the concert. It's been a long time. Although we can't see each other in person, let's have fun today." Jimin expressed his determination, saying, "We were also very excited today, and it is an honor to be able to come to you after preparing so hard. We will work hard for those who are not here."

During the concert, BTS showcased various stage transitions and new technologies. A representative example was the 'Visual Effect View (VEV).' This featured the largest LED screen ever used in a BTS concert, giving the feeling of actually being at the venue. Through VEV, the audience experienced vivid screens combining VJ sources, lyric graphics, and broadcast effects on the LED installed at the venue. Regarding this, Suga joked, "I can't believe such technology has developed," and laughed, saying, "To be able to watch a BTS concert at home while eating pizza and chicken."

BTS also led the concert with an emotional atmosphere by performing 'Blue & Grey' and 'Black Swan,' following their 2017 September release 'DNA.' J-Hope said, "Over the past eight years, we have introduced many songs with various feelings and dances," adding, "Many people like deep and lyrical songs." Jungkook shared, "There are over 350 songs registered under BTS now," and said, "We will not stop here and will create more songs that we enjoy and that ARMY loves."

The concert included songs that topped the Billboard charts, such as 'Dynamite,' which was the first K-pop song to reach number one on the US Billboard singles chart, as well as 'Life Goes On' and 'Butter.'

Meanwhile, BTS plans to hold offline concerts for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic in Los Angeles, USA, on November 27-28 and December 1-2.
