Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group's Remarkable Activities Stand Out

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Samho) held a gathering to share the activities of the Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group, which is active in various parts of the region with diverse talents.


At the same time, they celebrated receiving the Excellence Award at the recent Foreign Resident Support Best Practice Competition hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.


Gwangsan-gu announced on the 24th that it held the ‘Gwangsan-gu Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group Workshop’ on the 23rd.


At the event, they reviewed the background of the talent donation group, operational directions, and activity scenes through videos.


The Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group, consisting of 91 members from 15 countries, has been conducting various activities since July, such as the Basic Order Keeping Campaign and multilingual translation of COVID-19 prevention promotional materials.


In particular, they were active in various quarantine sites, including pre-booking for vaccination of undocumented foreigners and epidemiological investigations, earning the title of ‘unsung heroes in overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.’


These achievements were also recognized at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety competition, where they received the Excellence Award.


Kim Samho, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, expressed his gratitude by presenting certificates of appreciation to the talent donation group members.


In a special event, the Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group also presented a certificate of appreciation to Mayor Kim Samho as a token of thanks for instilling pride in them as Gwangsan-gu citizens.


At the ‘Rainbow Talk,’ three representatives of the Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group shared their impressions and reflections on their activities.


The Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group plans to continue volunteer activities focusing on ▲interpretation support ▲community patrol ▲technical skills, including interpretation services related to public administrative services, community patrol activities in areas with concentrated foreign residents, and volunteer work utilizing professional talents.


A Gwangsan-gu official said, “The Foreign Resident Talent Donation Group plays a role in enhancing the charm of Gwangsan-gu, where diverse cultures coexist,” and added, “We will actively support their activities so that their hidden talents can shine even more.”
