The reason they were so desperate to get promoted within this year is that next year is the year of the June local elections, and promotion work will likely be carried out only after the elections.

If the incumbent district mayor is re-elected, promotion will proceed without major difficulties, but if defeated, they will have to be evaluated under the new district mayor.

In particular, next year's local elections will be held three months after the presidential election on March 9th, making it very difficult to predict the election results, which seems to have caused great concern among them.

A person A from a Seoul district said, "I hoped to be promoted by the end of the year, but I couldn't fulfill my dream," expressing regret.

However, Mr. B, who retired as a director from a Seoul district office, said, "Even if a new district mayor is elected and comes in, the existing evaluations cannot be ignored," adding, "There is no need to worry too much."

He conveyed the previous case that since about six performance evaluations are required to be promoted to 5th grade, promotion candidates must be confirmed based on those evaluations.

Another person C said, "No matter which district mayor comes, public officials who work diligently will inevitably have greater promotion opportunities."
