Support for learning coaching in student groups of 3 or fewer
7,200 teachers and 17,000 students applied
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 24th that it will expand the program 'Todak Todak Kidari Saem,' designed for students needing academic support and emotional and psychological assistance, from elementary schools to all middle and high schools in Seoul.
'Todak Todak Kidari Saem' is a program where homeroom teachers form groups of three or fewer students to support their academic growth and emotional well-being. Homeroom teachers or subject teachers select participating students based on observations, counseling, student preferences, and parental wishes.
Following teacher applications last month, an average of more than 10 teachers per school applied, resulting in approximately 7,200 homeroom teachers supporting about 17,000 students with academic and emotional assistance. The program runs until February next year.
Students form mentor-mentee relationships either one-on-one or in groups of two to three, engaging in tailored programs including ▲ counseling for psychological and emotional support ▲ emotional development activities such as cultural arts, sports, and reading ▲ career exploration and coaching ▲ learning coaching, study method counseling, and AI content guidance to develop study habits ▲ and other activities necessary for students' psychological and emotional development.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education has produced and will provide teachers with the guidebook 'Connecting Hearts with Todaki and Kidari Saem,' which offers guidance on emotional counseling, career counseling, reading activities, and learning coaching that teachers and students can participate in together, and plans to share various activity cases.
Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "We will continue to support so that Kidari Saem becomes a school culture that cares for more students in need."
