[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] LG Uplus is promoting a business collaboration for digital content and solutions aimed at dementia prevention and management targeting patients with mild cognitive impairment and early-stage dementia, in response to the non-face-to-face and super-aged society.
LG Uplus announced on the 24th that it signed a 'business agreement to activate digital healthcare business for seniors' with LG Electronics and Rowan, a digital therapeutics company specializing in brain diseases.
Rowan is a company that developed the digital comprehensive dementia prevention program ‘SuperBrain’ together with Korea’s top neurology medical research team. It was the first in Korea to prove the multi-cognitive intervention effects in five areas: vascular risk factor management, cognitive learning, exercise, nutrition education, and motivation enhancement, and currently provides services to over 50 dementia relief centers, welfare centers, and hospitals.
The main tasks promoted through this business agreement are ▲ development and supply of digital dementia prevention and management solutions based on SuperBrain ▲ discovery of convenient devices suitable for each market such as B2G, B2B, and B2C ▲ service advancement using customer life log data ▲ development of new business models linked with broadcasting and communication data.
LG Electronics recently launched the ‘OneQuick’ device equipped with the SuperBrain-based dementia prevention and management solution, and will conduct business verification targeting dementia relief centers and daycare centers located in Seoul. OneQuick is a multipurpose screen equipped with a 4K UHD resolution screen, camera, microphone, speaker, and electronic whiteboard, providing an all-in-one solution needed at work or home such as video conferencing and exercise. Along with business verification through OneQuick in the future, LG Uplus plans to expand dementia prevention and management services to mobile and home service customers.
The signing ceremony held at LG Twin Towers was attended by key officials including Park Jong-wook, Executive Vice President and CSO of LG Uplus, Baek Ki-moon, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics ID Business Division, and Han Seung-hyun, CEO of Rowan.
Han Seung-hyun, CEO of Rowan, said, “Through this business agreement, I have high expectations that Rowan’s digital therapeutic content will be utilized in wider and more diverse places through LG Electronics’ global marketing and LG Uplus’ various channels.”
Baek Ki-moon, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics ID Business Division, emphasized, “We will provide differentiated experiences to various customers including seniors by leading with the OneQuick solution that enhances efficiency not only in various business fields but also in customers’ daily lives.”
Park Jong-wook, Executive Vice President and CSO of LG Uplus, said, “We will actively cooperate to create customer value targeting seniors who have many concerns about dementia, especially in the digital senior care field, based on LG Uplus’ information and communication technology capabilities and subscriber base.”
