[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] NongHyup Financial Group announced on the 24th that this year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic experienced worldwide, it has been conducting social contribution activities focused on relief supplies, recently carrying out relief projects in four countries: Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Earlier in February, NongHyup Financial Group declared its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) vision and established a group-level 'ESG Promotion Plan' to enhance social value and practice green finance through ESG management.
Additionally, to expand NongHyup Financial Group's ESG vision beyond domestic boundaries to overseas businesses, under the '2021 Global CSR Promotion Plan' established in April this year, it is actively conducting social contribution activities in regions where it has entered through its global network.
This year, the four Southeast Asian countries have been facing difficulties such as shortages of medical facilities and quarantine supplies due to the rapid spread of COVID-19. Since August, NongHyup Financial Group has supported quarantine supplies through its overseas branches located in each country.
NongHyup Finance Cambodia (microfinance corporation) supported the local Ministry of Health with diagnostic kits, masks, and daily necessities, fostering a positive image of Korea in Cambodia.
NongHyup Finance Myanmar (microfinance corporation) delivered masks, hand sanitizers, and school supplies to local child protection facilities, helping Myanmar children live in a safer environment.
NH Investment & Securities conducted locally tailored social contribution activities through its local subsidiaries, including donations related to overcoming COVID-19 (Vietnam) and support of COVID-19 diagnostic kits (Indonesia, currently undergoing customs clearance).
NongHyup Financial Group plans to continue sharing the difficulties of its overseas regions and identifying local needs to provide timely and effective support through ongoing global social contribution activities.
