One High School Student Confirmed COVID-19 Positive in Gwangju... Spread 'Slows Down'

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 23rd, as of 2 p.m. that day, one person in the Gwangju area was confirmed positive for COVID-19 and was classified as Gwangju case number 5300.

Previously, on the 20th, a high school student, case number 5278, at a high school located in Nam-gu, Gwangju, tested positive for COVID-19.

In response, the quarantine authorities conducted a full investigation of about 400 students and staff and identified close contacts who were placed under self-quarantine.

Case number 5300 is a student at the same school as case number 5278 and developed symptoms during self-quarantine, underwent testing, and was confirmed positive.

The quarantine authorities are investigating the exact route of infection.
