A Festival Full of Events for Youth in Dongjak-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) will hold the ‘Dongjak Youth, Youth Toktok!’ festival online from the 29th to the 30th in celebration of Dongjak Youth Week.

This festival, introduced for the first time this year, is an event designed to encourage youth interest in the region and deliver a message of hope to young people exhausted by COVID-19. It is meaningful in that the youth themselves take the lead in planning and operating the festival.

The youth festival planning team, composed of local residents or university students and graduates, planned the programs, and the festival will be broadcast live through the Dongjak-gu Office YouTube channel.

Starting on the 29th with viewing videos introducing Dongjak-gu’s attractions submitted through the Dongjak Attractions Video Contest, the 30th will feature ▲ the youth policy counseling concert ‘Todak Todak Youth Counseling Center’ addressing various concerns of youth ▲ ‘Dda.Dda.Dda. (Following Travel, Following Movies, Following Music),’ which introduces travel stories and performs movie OSTs ▲ and ‘Dongjak Youth Awards,’ a music performance and talk show by young people, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Additionally, on the 26th and 27th, an online talk concert for youth housing titled ‘The House I Live In, Knowledge is Power!’ will be held. Youth residing in Dongjak-gu or planning to move to Dongjak-gu can participate by applying in advance by the 24th.

The concert will be held online via ZOOM and will include sessions on ▲ things to check before and after contracts ▲ housing welfare systems ▲ youth jeonse loans and public rental housing ▲ shared housing types, providing helpful information for young people looking for a home.

Jeon Hyeyoung, Director of the Employment Policy Division, said, “I hope this will be an enjoyable time for many young people exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic to participate and interact,” adding, “We will strive to create a Dongjak where youth want to live by promoting policies that resonate with and are needed by youth, such as specialized jobs, housing, and startups unique to our district.”
