Gangdong-gu Secures 4 Billion Won in Special Adjustment Grants for Amsa Green Road Access Construction

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) has secured 4.05 billion KRW in Seoul City’s second half special adjustment grants to promote local issues such as the improvement project of Myogok Elementary School restrooms, the construction of the Amsa Chorok-gil access road, and the installation of odor reduction facilities at Cheonho Retention Basin.

In August, the district applied for nine projects (worth 9 billion KRW) as candidates for Seoul City’s second half special adjustment grants, and budgets for three urgent projects including the Myogok Elementary School restroom improvement project were prioritized and allocated.

The restrooms in the west building of Myogok Elementary School (46 Dongnam-ro 79-gil, Gangdong-gu) are facilities that have not been fully renovated for over 16 years. Despite being restrooms mainly used by students, many inconveniences such as odor have been raised, and the floors, walls, and doors are aging, raising safety concerns. The school has had difficulties managing the facilities.

With the allocated budget, environmental improvement construction will be carried out during the winter vacation period for a total of 10 restrooms on floors 1 to 5 of the west building, and next year students will be able to use bright and clean restrooms.

The Cheonho Retention Basin rainwater pumping station (70 Seonsa-ro, Gangdong-gu) has concerns about odor generation and safety accidents due to the exposure of the drainage channel inside the retention basin. Maintenance projects such as installing covers will be promoted to minimize odor generation.

Amsa Chorok-gil is a project embodying the wishes of Gangdong-gu residents to connect the Han River and the Amsa-dong historic site, which are separated by Olympic-daero.

They are promoting the construction of an access road 5 meters wide and 250 meters long to allow residents convenient access to the Han River, and plan to accelerate the project with the secured budget.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “Securing funding is most important to promote local issue projects and balanced regional development projects,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that projects with secured budgets proceed promptly.”
