[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 24th that it will begin accepting applications for the 2nd round of preliminary subscription for public housing sites in the metropolitan area and the 3rd new towns starting from the 25th.

Following the supply of 4,333 units in the 1st preliminary subscription on July 1st, this 2nd preliminary subscription will offer 10,102 units across 11 districts.

By district, the units are as follows: △ Namyangju Wangsuk2 1,412 units △ Seongnam Sinchon 304 units △ Seongnam Nakseong 884 units △ Seongnam Bokjeong2 632 units △ Suwon Dangsu 459 units △ Uijeongbu Ujeong 950 units △ Gunpo Daeyami 952 units △ Uiwang Wolam 825 units △ Bucheon Wonjong 374 units △ Incheon Geomdan 1,161 units △ Paju Unjeong3 2,149 units.

The estimated sale prices are about 60-80% of the surrounding market prices. LH explained that except for the 3rd new towns such as Namyangju Wangsuk2 (400 to 500 million KRW range) and Seongnam areas (Sinchon, Bokjeong2, Nakseong, 400 to 600 million KRW range), most areas are priced around 300 to 400 million KRW.

Since the subscription schedule varies depending on the supply type (public sale, newlywed hope town), eligibility (special supply, general supply), and residency in the relevant area, applicants must check the supply type, eligibility, and subscription dates in advance.

For ‘public sale housing,’ special supply applications (first-time homebuyers, newlyweds, multi-child families, elderly parents, others) will be accepted for five days from the 25th to the 29th. On November 1st, applications will be accepted from first-priority general supply applicants who reside in the relevant area, have been homeless for 3 years, and have paid at least 6 million KRW into the subscription savings. On November 2nd, applications will be accepted from all first-priority applicants residing in the relevant area. From November 3rd to 5th, applications will be accepted from first-priority applicants residing in the metropolitan area.

For ‘Newlywed Hope Town,’ priority subscription applications will be accepted from residents of the relevant area for five days from the 25th to the 29th, and metropolitan area residents can apply from November 1st to 5th.

Subscription applications are primarily accepted online, and to improve accessibility and convenience for applicants, from this 2nd preliminary subscription, applications can also be submitted via the mobile app ‘LH Subscription Center.’

For seniors aged 65 and over and persons with disabilities who have difficulty using the internet, on-site application centers (located in Wirye, Goyang, Namyangju, Dongtan, etc.) will be operated, and applicants can visit after making a prior reservation to submit their applications.
