[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 22nd that it has opened the first branch of the ‘Dahamkke Care Center’ within the Dongcheon Village 6 Complex Humansia Apartment in the district.
The ‘Dahamkke Care Center’ is a child welfare facility that utilizes idle spaces in the community with high safety and accessibility, such as apartment residents’ common facilities and administrative welfare centers, to provide after-school care services for elementary school students regardless of income level. It aims to eliminate blind spots in elementary care and establish a community-centered care system.
This care center, located on the 2nd floor of the residents’ common facility within Dongcheon Village 6 Complex Humansia (5, Hanam-daero 710beon-gil, Seo-gu), has a capacity of 30 students. It operates programs such as regular and temporary after-school care for elementary students in the district, meal and snack support, and learning activities. The facility is equipped with an office, program room, and kitchen.
It is scheduled to operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the school term and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during vacations. Care teachers are on duty throughout operating hours to provide safe and warm care services.
Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju, stated, “The newly opened Dahamkke Care Center in Dongcheon Village, Seo-gu, will serve as a model case for elementary student care services,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a child-friendly environment where precious children can be trusted and cared for.”
