Enjoying Rich Literature in the Poet's Hometown Haenam
[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] A literary festival filled with the scent of literature will be held this deepening autumn at the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.
According to the county on the 22nd, the '2021 Haenam Literature Festival-Haenam詩 Literature洞' to be held next month will promote a variety of comprehensive literary events under the theme of 'poetry literature,' Haenam's representative literary resource.
The Haenam Literature Festival begins with a poetry painting exhibition opening on the 3rd of next month at the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum's planned exhibition hall. The poetry painting exhibition features works where Haenam's representative contemporary literary figures and museum exhibiting poets Lee Dong-ju, Park Seong-ryong, Kim Nam-ju, and Ko Jeong-hee's poems are reinterpreted as paintings by Haenam painters, and can be viewed until the 30th of next month.
From the 4th to the 25th of next month, every Thursday at 4 p.m., a talk concert with resident writers of Baekryeonjae Literary House will be held. Various writers from different fields such as playwright Kim Sang-jin, reportage writer Ilgopjja-byeol, novelist Jeon Mi-hong, and children's literature writer Lee Jun-seop will participate to talk about their creative activities in Haenam and their rich literary achievements.
In addition, on the 6th of next month, a youth poetry busking will be held on the outdoor stage of Haenam Park, and every Saturday morning and afternoon, once each, a walking literary path exploration program with performances and recitations will be promoted in the Samsan-myeon and Haenam-eup areas.
On the 13th of next month, an exploration route visiting the birthplaces of Kim Nam-ju and Ko Jeong-hee will be held; on the 21st, a route around the Geumgang Reservoir; and on the 27th, a tour of major literary sites in Haenam-eup including the writing rooms of writers Hwang Seok-young and Kim Ji-ha is prepared.
Citizens wishing to participate in the events can register for their desired programs by phone at the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum. All participation fees are free, and all events will be operated in strict compliance with quarantine rules to prevent and contain COVID-19 spread. If social distancing levels are raised, events may be converted to non-face-to-face formats or reduced and changed.
County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan said, "In this deepening autumn, we have prepared various programs so that people can heal their body and mind through literature despite COVID-19," and added, "We hope for much interest and participation in the comprehensive literary events held in Haenam, the home of poetry literature."
Meanwhile, the Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum, opened in December 2017, is a public literary museum of Haenam-gun located within the Gosan historic site in Haenam-eup, where the old house of Master Gosan Yun Seon-do is situated.
It is equipped with a permanent exhibition hall, planned exhibition hall, and book caf?, and operates Baekryeonjae Literary House, a residency supporting writers' creative activities, as a related facility.
