34 Exemplary Elderly and Senior Welfare Contributors Awarded Commendations

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] Mokpo City, Jeonnam, held a ceremony commemorating the Day of the Elderly on the 22nd at the Mokpo Senior Welfare Center.
The "Day of the Elderly" is a legal commemorative day established to reflect on the Confucian value of respecting the elderly and to honor the efforts of seniors who have preserved and developed traditional culture. This year marks its 25th anniversary.
The ceremony was held with a minimal number of attendees, including Kim Jong-sik, Mayor of Mokpo, Park Chang-su, Chairman of the City Council, Jo Seong-jae, President of the Korean Senior Citizens Association Mokpo Branch, branch executives, and award recipients.
During the awards ceremony recognizing seniors who have set an example through exceptional volunteer spirit and dedication to the local community and neighbors, as well as contributors to senior welfare, a total of 34 people received commendations (1 Governor's Commendation, 23 Mayor's Commendations, 1 Korean Senior Citizens Association President's Commendation, 1 Jeonnam Federation President's Commendation, and 8 Mokpo Branch President's Commendations).
Mayor Kim Jong-sik stated, “We will spare no interest and support in various areas directly related to the lives of our seniors, such as health and employment, so that they can enjoy a comfortable old age.”
