"Defecated on Stairs and Fled" Angry Building Owner Puts Up Wanted Banner

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A building owner in Daejeon put up a banner on the stairs of his building to find a man who defecated there and ran away.

On the 21st, an online community post titled "Building owner who preserved the man who pooped and ran away" was uploaded.

The revealed photo shows a banner attached to a building, which reads, "Wanted: 'Pooper' who defecated on the stairs of this building and ran away," and "If you do not turn yourself in, the CCTV footage of defecating on the stairs will be posted online."

Along with a photo of a man caught on CCTV, his appearance and movement route were detailed. The banner also states, "On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, after getting off at the bus stop, around 4:56 PM, defecated on the stairs of the 2nd floor of this building, ran away without cleaning."

The building owner, Mr. A, told another media outlet over the phone, "I discovered it on my way home and had a hard time cleaning it up. I wore two masks," adding, "I have not caught the man yet, and there have been no tip-off calls. I really want to catch him. Depending on the situation, legal action may be taken."

Netizens who saw this reacted with comments such as, "The young guy must have been in a real hurry. Let's cut him some slack," "Turn yourself in and regain your honor," "Urgent bowel movements are understandable, but he should have cleaned up," and "Please open the restroom."

Meanwhile, unauthorized entry into a building to defecate is considered trespassing under criminal law. If convicted, under Article 319, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Act, the offender may face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 5 million won.
