[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] As of 9 PM on the 21st, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases nationwide increased compared to the same time the previous day, reaching the mid-1300s.


According to the quarantine authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, the total number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide was 1,368. This is 112 more than the 1,256 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 144 fewer than the 1,512 cases reported on Thursday, the 14th, a week ago.


Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases announced as of 0 AM on the 22nd is expected to increase further, reaching the 1,500 range. On the previous day, 185 cases were added after 9 PM, closing at a final count of 1,441.


Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported on this day, the metropolitan area accounted for 1,121 cases (81.9%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 247 cases (18.1%).


The fourth domestic wave, which began in early July, has continued for over three months.


The daily number of confirmed cases has recorded four digits for 107 consecutive days since July 7 (1,211 cases).
