[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 21st that H5 type avian influenza (AI) antigens were detected in wild bird droppings collected from Anseong, Gyeonggi; Asan, Chungnam; and Buan, Jeonbuk.
However, this is an interim test result, and it is expected to take 3 to 5 days to determine whether it is highly pathogenic.
The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food are controlling access to the wild bird droppings collection sites, designating a 10 km radius area as a wild waterfowl surveillance zone, and conducting surveillance and inspections of poultry farms within the area, implementing quarantine measures according to the 'Avian Influenza Emergency Action Guidelines' (AI SOP).
Meanwhile, wild bird droppings collected recently from Gwangjucheon in Gwangju were confirmed to be low pathogenic avian influenza, and wild bird droppings collected from Bokhacheon in Icheon, Gyeonggi, were confirmed negative for avian influenza.
