[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HCIC) is reported to have investigated employees of the then Supreme Prosecutors' Office Investigation Information Policy Division involved in the 'accusation instigation' suspicion.
According to the legal community on the 21st, recently the HCIC summoned and questioned Prosecutor A, who was dispatched and under the command of Son Jun-sung, then head of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Investigation Information Policy Division in April last year, along with investigators belonging to the Investigation Information Policy Division.
The HCIC suspects that Prosecutor A and others, under Prosecutor Son's instructions, drafted accusations against ruling party figures such as former Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Chairman Yoo Si-min and collected related supporting materials.
Cho Seong-eun, the first whistleblower of the accusation instigation suspicion, received the problematic accusation document in April last year from Kim Woong, a member of the People Power Party (then a candidate for the United Future Party in the general election), and the Telegram message showed 'Sent by Son Jun-sung.'
The HCIC is known to have extracted information contained in the accusation document, including rulings related to the case parties and information suspected to have been identified and organized by the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, and investigated whether Prosecutor A and other Investigation Information Policy Division officials collected such information. It is also reported that they investigated whether these actions were carried out under former Policy Director Son's instructions.
However, it is known that they did not investigate Chief Prosecutor Seongmo, who was in charge of Investigation Information 2 and was searched together with Prosecutor A last month.
An HCIC official said, "We cannot confirm anything regarding the investigation situation."
