Song Gap-seok: "Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol Should Resign for 'Protecting Jeon Du-hwan' Remarks"

On the 21st, Chairman Song said in a statement, “Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party preliminary candidate who mocked the people with the outrageous remark that he would take Jeon Du-hwan as a role model, first expressed displeasure, saying his words were being misunderstood, but reluctantly issued an explanation after nationwide criticism poured in.”

He continued, “He says he will accept the public’s criticism and express regret, and that once the primary is over, he will immediately rush to Gwangju to warmly embrace and comfort the people,” adding, “Who does Yoon Seok-yeol, a sinner who enraged not only Gwangju but the entire nation, think he is embracing and comforting when he should be kneeling and apologizing and resigning from the presidential candidacy?”

Furthermore, he said, “Is he planning to visit Gwangju like a king to bestow favors if he wins the primary?” and criticized, “Yoon Seok-yeol, who persists with shamelessness and arrogance without repentance or apology, is nothing but a carbon copy of his role model Jeon Du-hwan.”

He also emphasized, “Kim Jae-won, the Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, who should share responsibility for this, rather supported Yoon Seok-yeol’s outrageous remark by saying, ‘I wish President Moon Jae-in had learned real estate and nuclear power policies from former President Jeon Du-hwan,’” stressing, “The true colors of the People Power Party are being revealed.”

He added, “Gwangju will no longer expect or demand an apology from Yoon Seok-yeol,” and concluded, “Yoon Seok-yeol, a substandard defective product who praised a dictatorship in the era of democracy, must immediately resign from the presidential candidacy.”
