[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] The Haenam-type youth startup support project, which began in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do in 2018, is bringing a fresh wave of youth to the region.
According to the county on the 21st, starting with five young entrepreneurs in the first year through the Haenam-type youth startup support project, a total of 37 young people have succeeded in starting businesses.
Among the 36 who have maintained their startups so far, these young entrepreneurs are actively engaged in various fields such as pet theme parks and grooming, food service, jade crafts and leather crafts, psychological counseling centers, barista academies, yoga and Pilates, balloon crafts, puppet shows and local content research, rice baking using local agricultural products, educational services, and expanding their parents' businesses to start new ventures.
The employees hired at these businesses number about 30, significantly contributing not only to employment activation but also to revitalizing the local economy. Additionally, 21 of the entrepreneurs are young people who migrated from other regions, moving to Haenam with their families, thereby achieving the effect of population inflow.
Haenam-gun discovers young talents with innovative business ideas and conducts the Haenam-type youth startup support project annually to create jobs.
The Haenam-type youth startup support project is an offline startup support program, applicable to general businesses, 4th industry, and IT-related businesses.
After completing startup education, up to 30 million KRW in startup funds are provided for two years based on business plan evaluations, along with continuous consulting and mentoring.
A person surnamed Lee, who succeeded in starting a business through the Haenam-type youth startup support project, said, “While living in another region, I suddenly lost my job due to COVID-19 and faced difficulties maintaining my livelihood. Upon hearing that Haenam-gun supports youth startups, my entire family moved to Haenam and participated in the startup business. The support for startup funds and ongoing consulting has been very helpful in overcoming the initial difficulties of starting a business.”
County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, “The influx of young people brings vitality to the region and increases the possibility of positive change, so we are actively promoting the youth startup support project to help them settle in the area. We plan to continuously discover youth-related projects so that Haenam-gun can become a region where young people want to live.”
Meanwhile, in addition to the Haenam-type youth startup support project, various fields such as non-face-to-face era web seller youth startup support, crowdfunding youth startup support, and youth startup rental farm support are actively supporting youth startups.
