[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 21st that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Industrial Machinery Remanufacturing Support Center' in the Changwon Industrial Complex to support remanufacturing technology development and performance evaluation.
The Remanufacturing Support Center is planned to be established by December 2022 within the Changwon National Industrial Complex, consisting of a three-story research building and a two-story equipment building, with a total investment of 20.1 billion KRW (10.1 billion KRW from the central government and 10 billion KRW from local government) by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Gyeongnam Province, and Changwon City.
'Remanufacturing' is an industry that recovers used products and, through processes such as disassembly, adjustment, and reassembly, produces products with original or superior performance. The remanufacturing process can reduce energy and resource consumption by 80-90% compared to new product manufacturing processes, making it highly effective in reducing carbon emissions.
The Support Center plans to develop quality certification standards, support industrial machinery remanufacturing technology development, and improve trust in the quality of remanufactured products through verified performance evaluations. It is also expected to contribute to the long-term development of the remanufacturing industry through fostering related specialized companies, supporting workforce training, and expert networking.
Park Jong-won, Deputy Governor for Economy of the province, stated, "We will provide wholehearted support for building the foundation for the expansion of the eco-friendly, high value-added industrial machinery remanufacturing industry, fostering specialized companies, and workforce training to achieve technological independence in industrial machinery."
After the groundbreaking ceremony, the Ministry of Industry and Gyeongnam Province visited Youngjin Tech, a specialized industrial machinery remanufacturing company, toured the industrial site, listened to field difficulties, and gathered opinions related to industrial policies.
