Online and Offline Combined at Muju Taekwondowon
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The 14th World Taekwondo Culture Expo, a festival for taekwondo practitioners worldwide, will be held at Muju Taekwondowon, the holy ground of taekwondo, from October 22 to 26.
This year’s event, considering the COVID-19 situation, will have only domestic athletes gather at the Taekwondowon T1 arena to compete in the taekwondo demonstration contest, while the Poomsae competition will be held online with participation from both overseas and domestic athletes.
In particular, the opening and closing ceremonies will be omitted, and the taekwondo demonstration contest, involving only domestic athletes, will be held without spectators and will be broadcast live on YouTube (channel “KPNP”) throughout October 23.
Additionally, the online Poomsae competition (including Poomsae and kicking) with overseas participants will be conducted by having participants submit videos they filmed themselves, which judges will review directly at the Taekwondowon T1 arena.
Now in its 14th year, the World Taekwondo Culture Expo serves as a festival for taekwondo practitioners worldwide, including the general public, promoting harmony among taekwondo practitioners and publicizing Taekwondowon, playing a significant role in revitalizing tourism in Jeollabuk-do.
Meanwhile, during the event period, Jeonbuk Province plans to conduct a signature campaign and a taekwondo practitioners’ challenge event to support the establishment of the International Taekwondo Academy, which is being promoted as a pledge for the 20th presidential election in Jeonbuk to cultivate global taekwondo leaders.
