[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Doosan Group employees have engaged in social contribution activities through walking.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on the 21st that it conducted a non-face-to-face social contribution activity called the 'Step Donation Campaign' in collaboration with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation and Bundang Police Station. This campaign was carried out by setting a target number of steps and donating funds upon achieving the goal. Employees working at Bundang Doosan Tower in Gyeonggi participated in the campaign for 45 days starting from mid-August, surpassing the target of 20 million steps by more than double, reaching 56 million steps.

Through this, they raised 10 million KRW in donations, which was delivered to the Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation the day before. The funds will be used for surgeries, treatment costs, and purchasing rehabilitation equipment for two children with walking disabilities. A Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction official said, "Although it was difficult to conduct volunteer activities due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to practice sharing with the local community through non-face-to-face volunteer activities like the Step Donation Campaign," adding, "It is meaningful in that we can contribute even a little to helping children with walking disabilities."

Doosan Corporation is also conducting a 'Sseudam Walking' social contribution campaign for one month starting from the 18th. 'Sseudam Walking' means walking while collecting trash, and this campaign was initiated with the purpose of simultaneously promoting employees’ health and environmental protection through walking.

During the one-month campaign, Doosan Corporation set a goal for each employee to walk about 20 km and collect more than 55 PET bottles. The company explained that this would reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by 6.7 kg per person, which is equivalent to planting a 30-year-old pine tree.

A Doosan Group official said, "This is the first social contribution campaign linking individual health, environmental protection, and community donations."
