Capacity Building Program and Resident Proposal Project Operation to Expand Local Community Participation
[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 21st that it will operate various capacity-building programs and resident contest projects to promote sustainable urban regeneration with the participation of residents.
The Urban Regeneration New Deal project is a project to solve problems caused by the decline of urban functions by expanding infrastructure through the construction of various social infrastructure facilities in the urban regeneration activation zone around Seongnam-ri, Muan-eup, and strengthening resident capabilities.
The county will operate a practical training course reflecting resident demand as an urban regeneration capacity-building program, including Barista & Home Cafe and Wildflower Embroidery classes twice a week from the 26th, to establish self-sustainability through community revitalization by supporting resident organization activities.
In addition, to enable residents to directly implement projects they plan themselves in various fields, eight groups participating in the urban regeneration resident contest project have been selected and supported, and additional groups are being recruited to participate in the resident contest project until the 29th.
The recruitment target is a group or organization of five or more residents with an address, residence, or living area in Muan-gun, and the support project cost is up to 10 million KRW per case, with about three groups to be selected in total.
Those who wish to apply can visit the County Office's Regional Development Division to submit an application form and a business plan in various fields such as culture, welfare, and economy.
Governor Kim San said, “We plan to continue supporting activities in various fields so that residents can develop their capabilities and demonstrate their abilities on their own,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that the Muan-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal project is successfully promoted with the participation of residents.”
Meanwhile, Muan-gun is preparing a process for establishing and fostering a village management cooperative that can receive initial project funding support through approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and plans to support self-sustaining organizational operations linked with the Urban Regeneration Support Center, including village activists.
