Jeonju City Creates 'Traveler's Street' at Jeonju Nambu Market

Targeting a 120m Section Where Temporary Stores Were Removed... Expected Expansion of Hanok Village Tourism Scope

Jeonju City Creates 'Traveler's Street' at Jeonju Nambu Market

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] The space in front of Jeonju Nambu Market, where temporary stores were dismantled, will be transformed into a Traveler's Street.

Jeonju City announced on the 21st that it plans to invest a total project cost of 1.5 billion KRW by March next year to create a Traveler's Street in a 120m section where temporary stores were removed within the 400m stretch from Ssajendari to Maegokgyo.

After completing the removal of temporary stores last year, Jeonju City plans to create a safe pedestrian space in the 120m section, carry out undergrounding projects for utility poles and communication lines, and make it an open space with views of Jeonjucheon Stream and Chorokbawi Rock.

Jeonju City also plans to promote maintenance and repair projects for the remaining 280m section of temporary stores to provide a pleasant street for Nambu Market users and tourists.

Jeonju City expects that once the Traveler's Street is established, it will activate tourism by providing another route for tourists visiting Hanok Village to move to Nambu Market Youth Mall, expanding the scope of tourism centered on Hanok Village.

An official from the City’s Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau said, “The Traveler's Street installed in the section where temporary stores in front of Nambu Market were dismantled will greatly help expand tourism from Hanok Village to Nambu Market and Seohak-dong Art Village.”
