[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] In connection with an incident where two employees at a company office in Seocho-gu, Seoul lost consciousness after drinking water from a bottled water container, it has been confirmed that a colleague, Mr. A, who was found dead at his home, showed signs of using poison.
According to the police on the 21st, on the afternoon of the 18th, two male and female employees at a company in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, collapsed after drinking water from bottled water placed on the office desk.
The next day after the incident, Mr. A, who was absent without leave, was found dead at his home. Although there were no signs of homicide, a substance suspected to be poison was found at Mr. A’s residence. Additionally, poison-related search records were found on his mobile phone. The police plan to conduct an autopsy on Mr. A through the National Forensic Service.
The two employees who lost consciousness drank water contained in commercially sold 330ml bottled water; the male employee drank two bottles, and the female employee drank water from another bottled water container. The bottled water was reported to have been opened.
The police are conducting a witness investigation with the female employee who regained consciousness and have requested a detailed analysis of the bottled water and the suspected poison substances from the National Forensic Service. They are also focusing on the fact that all three worked in the same team within the company as they continue their investigation.
