Prosecutors to Re-summon Daejang-dong Key Figures Kim Man-bae and Nam Wook This Afternoon

Prosecutors to Re-summon Daejang-dong Key Figures Kim Man-bae and Nam Wook This Afternoon

[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The prosecution will re-investigate Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu and a key figure in the Daejang-dong development preferential treatment and lobbying allegations, and lawyer Nam Wook on the afternoon of the 20th.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office special investigation team will summon Kim again at 2 p.m. that day for questioning. It has been six days since the court dismissed the arrest warrant on the 14th, and the prosecution believes that Kim, along with former Seongnam Urban Development Corporation Planning Director Yoo Dong-gyu, designed the project so that a large sum of money would go to private operators. In particular, they suspect that Kim promised to pay Yoo 70 billion won and provided a bribe of 500 million won during this process.

The prosecution will also summon lawyer Nam for questioning. Earlier, the prosecution released Nam because sufficient investigation was not conducted within the detention period, but it is known that they plan to conduct additional investigations and then request an arrest warrant.

Kim is also expected to be investigated two or three more times before reapplying for an arrest warrant, as there was criticism that the arrest warrant was hastily requested without a proper investigation.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility of a confrontation investigation between Kim and lawyer Nam during this investigation. Kim’s side may be played the recorded statements of accountant Jung Young-hak. Previously, Kim’s side demanded the disclosure of the recordings during the first investigation on the 11th.
