[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 20th that it will carry out the "2021 Second Half Regular Verification Survey" to confirm the eligibility and appropriateness of benefits for welfare recipients until the end of the year.
The survey targets 593 households and 1,239 individuals who are recipients of 13 welfare programs including Basic Livelihood Security (living, medical, housing, education), Basic Pension, Disability Pension, Near-Poverty Disabled, Near-Poverty Self-Support, Near-Poverty Out-of-Pocket Reduction, Single-Parent Family Support, and other medical benefits under different laws.
Updated data from about 80 types of information from 18 public institutions and financial institutions (such as health insurance monthly salary, property tax, financial information) will be collected for the survey, and after updating income and property information, changes in eligibility and benefits for the target households are expected.
Those expected to have reduced benefits or suspension of benefits will be given an opportunity to provide explanations.
If the survey results estimate that a household’s recognized income amount has decreased and other support is possible, active rights protection such as guidance on relevant welfare systems and ex officio application will be conducted simultaneously.
A county official said, "This survey is necessary to maintain the appropriateness of social security benefits for recipients and to ensure fair and transparent welfare administration. For households facing difficulties among those whose benefits are to be suspended after the survey, we will do our best to prevent welfare blind spots by actively linking other welfare services such as special living expenses and case management."
