[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution investigating the lobbying and preferential treatment allegations related to the Daejang-dong development is conducting an additional raid on Seongnam City Hall on the 20th.
The dedicated investigation team of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office sent investigators to Seongnam City Hall around 9:30 a.m. to secure additional data such as employees' email records from servers stored in the Information and Communication Department.
However, it is reported that the prosecution will not raid the mayor's office or the mayor's secretariat this day either.
The prosecution has raided Seongnam City Hall four times in the past week up to this day.
The day before, the prosecution visited Seongnam City Hall and raided the Information and Communication Department, but due to the volume of electronic data, an extension of the operation was necessary, leading to another visit to Seongnam City Hall this day.
Seongnam City, which holds the licensing authority for the Daejang-dong development project, has been considered the top target for raids. The prosecution believes that Seongnam City was informed of or aware of the work conducted by its affiliate, Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and is searching for related materials.
