Observing 'Italian City Luca' and 'Napoleon's Exile Site Elba Island' from 360-Degree Camera Angles
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 20th that it will hold an edu-tech-based "Metaverse World History Special Lecture" to cultivate creative and convergent thinking skills for 200 learners of the online learning site 'Seoul Learn'.
This metaverse special lecture will be held three times in total from the first lecture on the 30th until December. The theme of the first special lecture is "A Historical Journey to Italy in the Metaverse with Teacher Choi Tae-sung." Through learning materials observable from 360-degree camera angles such as "the Italian city of Lucca" and "Napoleon's exile island Elba," participants can experience Italy vividly and realistically as if traveling the real world.
For learners who may feel awkward operating their avatars within the metaverse, the first session will guide them on how to move their avatars and communicate. The first world history special lecture will also include Q&A sessions and quiz events to encourage active participation from students.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10 a.m. on the 20th through a popup window on the Seoul Learn site. A total of 200 participants will be selected, and those chosen will move to the 'MOIM' platform via 'Seoul Learn' to create individual avatars and participate.
Monthly metaverse special lectures will continue to be held on Seoul Learn. Considering the 2022 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) date, a "Metaverse College Admission Briefing" will be held at the end of November, and in mid-December, a lecture will be held with a theme suitable for the time when Seoul Learn students finish one grade and prepare for the new school year.
Lee Dae-hyun, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Lifelong Education Bureau, said, "This special lecture, which takes a historical journey to Italy through the virtual space called the metaverse, will be a new experience for Seoul Learn students to enjoy future technology and world culture simultaneously."
