[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 19th that the Peony Convergence Collaboration Complex Project has been selected for the '2022 Local Transition' national subsidy public project.
Accordingly, Hapcheon-gun plans to create the Peony Convergence Collaboration Complex centered around Hatdeul Ecological Park in Hapcheon-eup, with a project budget of 300 million KRW (including 150 million KRW national subsidy and 45 million KRW provincial subsidy).
Through this project, support will be provided for the construction of new peony processing facilities and the purchase of processing equipment, and by expanding the peony cultivation area, it is expected to contribute to fostering local food specialty products and creating high value-added agricultural income.
Since 2017, Hapcheon-gun has been systematically fostering new income crops suitable for the local agricultural environment and has started an anti-aging crop support project to provide stable support and strengthen farmers' competitiveness. The peony cultivation area in Hapcheon, recently gaining attention as an anti-aging food, has greatly increased to 12 hectares across 25 farms.
Shin Jae-soon, director of the Hapcheon Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We will do our best to make this an opportunity to widely promote the excellence of peony, which is being developed as a representative anti-aging crop of the region.”
