[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver announced on the 19th that it presented 15 papers on its Korean language processing technology and research achievements at the 'Human & Cognitive Language Technology (HCLT) 2021' conference.
HCLT is the most prestigious academic conference in Korea for sharing Korean language processing technology and research achievements, held annually around Hangul Day. This year, it took place from the 14th to the 15th.
Since 2014, Naver has consistently shared the latest research results related to Korean language processing technology at HCLT. Korean language processing technology enables computers to understand Korean, the language used by people, and is one of the core technologies of Naver Search.
In particular, the 15 papers Naver presented at HCLT this year represent 2.5 times more than last year. The research papers adopted at HCLT 2021 cover various fields including language processing reliability, machine learning, question answering, information extraction, language processing applications, dialogue systems, and ontology.
Among them are research processes and achievements accumulated over several years to develop Korea’s ultra-large-scale Korean AI ‘HyperCLOVA’. It was evaluated that by actively sharing research results with external researchers, Naver contributed to the advancement of domestic AI research levels.
Some of the research Naver presented at HCLT has been applied to Naver Search services. Research on slot correction in voice dialogue systems was applied to the music playback function of AI speakers, and the Wikidata-based classification system research and meta-blocking research were implemented as a feature that directly connects users to music sites from the knowledge base when they search for song titles.
?Kang Inho, Head of Naver Search CIC, said, "Based on our outstanding Korean language information processing technology, we will continue to improve domestic services and strive in research and development to become an AI technology platform competing with global big tech companies."
