Kakao Brain Accelerates AI Leadership... Research Collaboration with 7 Universities


[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao's AI research and development subsidiary, Kakao Brain, announced on the 19th that it will establish industry-academic cooperation with research labs at seven domestic universities to conduct AI deep learning technology research.


The cooperation targets seven universities: Korea University, Seoul National University, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Hanyang University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), and others.


Kakao Brain will conduct joint research with these universities for the next three years. Focusing on the fields of super-large AI and deep learning technology research, it plans to innovate existing research methods and propose new research methodologies. Major research topics include ▲memory-based super-large model training platforms and methodologies ▲overcoming limitations of current recognition and reasoning models ▲overcoming limitations of current video recognition and generation. The goal is to develop AI technologies that help daily life through new research methodologies.


A Kakao Brain official stated, "We will continue research on next-generation learning technologies and research methodologies that surpass the limitations of deep model training paradigms together with the seven research labs," adding, "We will strive to secure Korea's AI leadership."
