[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Daehan Electric Wire announced on the 19th the establishment of its mid- to long-term environmental strategy, 'Green 2030,' accelerating its efforts to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
Through this strategy, Daehan Electric Wire plans to select and implement feasible tasks and create sustainable value to contribute to the creation of an eco-friendly society. The company has identified key focus areas including ▲advancement of environmental policies ▲strengthening environmental investments ▲environmental and energy management ▲utilization of renewable energy, and has established detailed plans and execution tasks for each area.
Specific initiatives include expanding the development of eco-friendly products, establishing a green purchasing process, and joining international initiatives such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The company will also promote activities to preserve endangered species near its business sites and improve ecosystems, while strengthening the operation of environmental facilities to minimize air and water quality impacts. Additionally, it plans to continuously increase the proportion of renewable energy usage by introducing solar power generation facilities.

Efforts will also be made to improve employees' awareness of environmental issues. To ensure that all employees incorporate 'Green 2030' into their daily lives, materials will be shared on the company intranet and related training will be continuously conducted. On the 15th, at the Dangjin plant, a training session titled 'Awareness Improvement for Creating a Carbon Neutral Practice Culture,' hosted by the Korea Electric Association, was held with about 30 employees in attendance. Starting with this training, Daehan Electric Wire plans to foster a work culture aimed at carbon neutrality and continue internal campaigns.
Since establishing the first ESG committee in the wire industry in May, Daehan Electric Wire has been actively implementing ESG management by publishing ESG reports and introducing a Compliance Program (CP) for fair trade.
A Daehan Electric Wire official explained, "Green 2030 is a concrete action plan to achieve tangible results in ESG management," adding, "We will continue to make multifaceted efforts to create sustainable value and fulfill our social responsibilities as a global company."
