[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Convenience store 7-Eleven announced on the 19th that it will conduct a 'volunteer activity to improve the living environment of grandparent-grandchild households' for about two weeks as part of its ESG social value (Angel7) management activities.
This volunteer work is a project that supports improving the living environment such as wallpaper and flooring replacement, kitchen repairs, and electrical work to provide a comfortable living environment for children in foster families of grandparent-grandchild households living in poor housing conditions nationwide.
It started in August last year as the '2021 Foster Family Living Environment Improvement Project' through collaboration between the Lotte Scholarship Foundation and the Child Rights Protection Agency. This time, about 60 executives and employees from seven 7-Eleven branches nationwide will participate, starting from Mapo-gu, Seoul, and will provide volunteer services to a total of about 10 households in Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Daegu·Gyeongbuk, Busan, Jeonnam, and Jeju.
They visit homes where living environment construction is underway to perform activities such as cleaning and tidying up, moving furniture, painting work, and companionship. They also deliver gift packages consisting of various daily necessities, snacks, beverages, bakery items, including 7-Eleven's PB product roll tissue (24 rolls). Next month, they plan to sponsor stationery, snacks, and other items worth about 10 million won to 100 households selected by the Child Rights Protection Agency, including those whose living environments have been improved.
Jang Areum, Senior Manager of Social Contribution at 7-Eleven, said, "We are pleased to contribute to this meaningful event for a comfortable and safe living environment for growing children," adding, "We will continue to strive so that all executives and employees take the lead in ESG management and fulfill social responsibilities through various activities."
