[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Students from the Department of Aircraft Maintenance at Gumi University participated in the 5th National Aircraft Maintenance Skills Competition on the 15th, winning the individual grand prize and gold medal, as well as the gold medal in the team event.
The competition was held over three days starting on the 12th in Yeongju, Gyeongbuk, and Gumi University demonstrated outstanding aircraft maintenance skills by sweeping the grand prize and gold medal in their first participation in the National Aircraft Maintenance Skills Competition.
In the university division individual event, Kim Chaeryeong (1st year) from the Department of Aircraft Maintenance won the grand prize, and Lee Kibum (2nd year) won the gold medal. Additionally, in the team event, Kim Chaeryeong, Lee Kibum, and Ko Myeongseok received the gold medal.
The Department of Aircraft Maintenance at Gumi University consists of the Helicopter Maintenance and Aircraft Maintenance programs, and students obtain certifications such as Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Aircraft Industry Engineer, and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, advancing to maintenance non-commissioned officer positions in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Dean Song Byeongho stated, “The Department of Aircraft Maintenance has secured various teaching materials including five fixed-wing aircraft, three rotary-wing aircraft, 15 gas turbine engines, and 10 piston engines, providing an optimal practical training environment with systematic and standardized equipment and systems that meet international standards, which is a major advantage.”
