[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) has launched the ‘ESG Action Days’ program.

ESG refers to practicing Environmental, Social, and Governance principles in daily life. KHNP plans to operate an internal culture-building program for one week from the 18th to the 22nd, focusing on three themes: carbon reduction, sharing love, and ethical practice.

ESG Action Days is an event designed for employees to understand ESG management through participation and communication and to practice ESG values.

On the first day of the event, the 18th, KHNP held an ESG Commitment Rally at its headquarters in Gyeongju.

Under the ESG management slogan, “Leading a sustainable future with Clean Energy,” KHNP announced its ESG management strategy to achieve this goal.

KHNP’s ESG strategy aims to contribute to the nation’s carbon neutrality and create social value that the public can feel.

Additionally, KHNP declared a new ethical charter reflecting ESG values and reaffirmed its commitment to active participation by all employees in principled management.

KHNP also operates participatory programs that allow employees to protect the environment and create social value through small daily practices.

Employees will participate in a ‘Carbon Point System’ subscription event, which involves actions to reduce greenhouse gases and respond to the climate crisis.

The company will also implement a company-wide ‘Clean Dish Campaign,’ aimed at reducing food waste. KHNP plans to donate a certain amount corresponding to the reduced food waste through the Clean Dish Campaign to support environmental education for children.

Furthermore, to spread a warm culture of sharing and deliver love to vulnerable groups, KHNP will carry out a ‘Donation of Love Items’ initiative.

Reusable items will be donated to Goodwill Stores, contributing to resource circulation and job creation for people with disabilities.

Goodwill Stores receive donated items, refurbish them, and sell them, providing jobs for people with disabilities.

Jung Jae-hoon, CEO of KHNP, said, “The most important aspect of ESG management is establishing a culture of practice,” adding, “Through this event, we will establish KHNP’s unique clean ESG culture by creating better value through ESG activities involving all employees.”
