Gwangju Nam-gu, Happy Companionship with Pets

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byung-nae) is recruiting students for the lifelong university fall semester program "Happy Companionship, Stories About Companion Dogs We Should Know" to create a mature companion culture in response to the increase in households raising companion dogs.

According to Nam-gu on the 18th, this program was prepared to enhance understanding of companion dogs and to create a pet etiquette culture that makes both dogs and people happy.

The program will be held every Wednesday until the 24th of next month at the Nam-gu Lifelong Learning Center, with a recruitment capacity of 15 people.

The tuition is free, and residents who wish to participate in the program can download the Nam-gu Culture and Education Events app from the Google Play Store or App Store on their smartphones and then submit an application form.

Students of the companion dog story program will learn about the language, behavior, and health of companion dogs together with Jeong Wook, CEO of The Pet House Cooperative.

They will also study everything from choosing the right food necessary for raising companion dogs, walking methods, aromatherapy, to stress signals sent by companion dogs.

A Nam-gu official said, "As companion dog culture has become a trend, including taking companion dogs along on family trips, pet humanization is spreading. Reflecting this trend, we have prepared a program to learn everything about companion dogs. We ask for active participation from companion dog owners."
