[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Hanjin announced on the 18th that it has been awarded the highest grade (AAA) in the GRP (Global Recognition Program for Climate Change Response and Plastic Reduction), a UN voluntary international environmental certification, in recognition of its achievements in eco-friendly logistics activities.
GRP is an international environmental certification system initiated as a voluntary commitment by the UN and the private sector. The evaluation covers six industry sectors: infrastructure industries (petroleum & chemical, energy, construction & plant), fashion & apparel, distribution & logistics, food & beverage, beauty & cosmetics, and franchise food & tourism facilities. The grades range from the highest AAA to AA+, AA, and AA-.
Hanjin received favorable evaluations for its green logistics practices such as electric delivery vehicles, eco-friendly engine oil, eco-friendly wing boxes and uniforms, operation of an upcycling platform, and in-house zero-waste challenges, as well as its continuous efforts to internalize and spread awareness of the importance of solving social issues and protecting the environment.
A Hanjin official stated, “We are very honored to receive the highest grade in recognition of our multifaceted eco-friendly logistics activities in response to climate change,” and added, “We will continue to actively respond to climate change based on our founding philosophy of serving the nation through transportation, lead green logistics, and strengthen ESG management to ensure these efforts spread throughout society.”
