Supplying Female Calves to Hope Farms... Securing Hanwoo Breeding Foundation
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 18th that it has completed the support for newborn calves for livestock farms to secure the competitiveness of the Korean beef industry.
According to the county, a total of 96 heads were supported for 20 farms with a county budget of 420 million won.
The newborn calf support project accepts applications from farms with fewer than 50 heads of Korean cattle that wish to introduce newborn calves, providing up to 10 female calves aged 6 to 8 months.
With this, Muju County has supported 1,299 heads to 360 farms since 2008.
Muju County explained that it selected farms with the capacity and willingness to raise Korean beef cows, farms that can establish a self-reliance foundation through newborn calf support, and farms that practice and can establish eco-friendly livestock farming.
It also plans to expand the foundation stock by supplying calves with a high degree of pedigree improvement in the future.
Meanwhile, Muju County is carrying out projects such as improving the genetic traits of cows, supporting calf production stabilization, and Korean beef embryo transfer to produce high-quality Korean beef.
