[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] On the 18th, the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business held the 'Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Meeting with Minister Kwon Chil-seung of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' at Donggu Bio Pharmaceutical located in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do.

About 30 small and medium business owners attended the meeting, including Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, Chu Yeon-ok, Chairman of the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Association, and the chairman of the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Cooperative.

Before the meeting, Minister Kwon and Chairman Kim toured the production site of Donggu Bio Pharmaceutical and encouraged the on-site workers. Established in 1970, Donggu Bio Pharmaceutical is leading innovation by, among other things, being the first in the pharmaceutical industry to collaborate with peers to build a joint logistics center.

On this day, the meeting focused on listening to and communicating the voices from the field regarding key issues for small and medium enterprises, including revitalizing the functions of small and medium business cooperatives, innovative growth of SMEs, ESG management, and support for overcoming COVID-19.

Chairman Kim said, "Gyeonggi-do is the center of South Korea's economy and a frontline base for overcoming COVID-19," adding, "We hope the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will actively support policies reflecting field opinions so that small and medium businesses in Gyeonggi-do can regain vitality."

He continued, "The small and medium business sector will also cooperate with the government to help South Korea's economy overcome COVID-19 and leap forward by making further efforts to expand new investments and create jobs."
