Jeju Island Reports 6 New COVID-19 Cases... Consecutive Infections Linked to Bathhouse

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] As of 5 PM on the 17th, six new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Jeju Island.

Among them, five contracted COVID-19 through contact with confirmed cases within the province. One person was a contact of a confirmed case from another region.

Among the new COVID-19 cases who had contact with confirmed cases within the province, three were found to have visited ‘Dongmyeong Bathhouse’ in Jeju City.

Out of 41 visitors to Dongmyeong Bathhouse, three tested positive and 20 tested negative. The test results of the remaining 18 people will be announced sequentially on the 18th.

The other two cases are related to the cluster infection at ‘Seogwipo City Sauna 2.’ The total number of confirmed cases related to this sauna has increased to 12.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Jeju area is 327, with 143 newly confirmed cases this month. In the past week, 55 cases were confirmed, averaging 7.86 cases per day.
