COVID-19 Cluster Infection at Dongdaemun General Market... 55 Confirmed Cases Including Merchants

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 17th that 55 people tested positive for COVID-19 in a cluster infection at the Dongdaemun General Market in Jongno-gu.

According to the city, one market worker was first confirmed positive on the 6th of this month, and by the 16th, 54 additional people tested positive. Among the confirmed cases, 48 were market workers such as merchants, and 7 were family members and acquaintances.

Health authorities are currently awaiting the results for 106 contacts of market workers, so there is a high possibility of additional confirmed cases. The authorities plan to conduct an in-depth epidemiological investigation to accurately identify the infection route.
