Hong Kong police arrested four Student Union executives that day. The Hong Kong University Student Union had adopted a resolution on the 7th to commemorate a man who attacked a police officer with a weapon in Causeway Bay and subsequently took his own life, but later invalidated the resolution and issued an apology. The Hong Kong government viewed the act of commemorating the deceased man as an act of endorsing terrorism and arrested them on charges of violating the National Security Law.
