[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government is considering resuming the use of consumption coupons, which had been temporarily suspended, in line with the transition to a quarantine system for phased daily recovery (With Corona).
On the 15th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced this at the Innovation Growth Strategy Review Meeting and Policy Review Meeting, chaired by First Vice Minister Lee Eokwon at the Government Seoul Office.
In his opening remarks, Vice Minister Lee said, "We will closely consult with quarantine authorities to ensure that 'With Corona' leads to the recovery of the livelihood economy and vulnerable sectors, and consider resuming policies such as consumption coupons that had been temporarily suspended."
This measure is intended to support daily recovery while comprehensively considering quarantine conditions such as the quarantine situation and vaccination rate.
The government had previously announced plans to issue coupons for dining out, sports, movies, exhibitions, performances, and professional sports viewing when the first dose vaccination rate reaches 50%, and to issue coupons for accommodation, tourism, railroads, and buses when it reaches 70%.
Vice Minister Lee stated, "With the acceleration of vaccination, it is expected that the goal of 70% full vaccination of the entire population will be achieved within this month," adding, "The COVID-19 Daily Recovery Support Committee has been launched and is preparing a roadmap to realize 'With Corona.'"
