Ate1 "Grid, 'VR Metaverse Contest' Ministry of Science and ICT Minister Award"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Grid, a 100% subsidiary of KOSDAQ-listed company Eightone, announced on the 14th that it received the Minister of Science and ICT Award based on the development achievements of its metaverse platform ‘MOIM’.

At the event held on the 13th to open the 'Metaverse Playground' experience space within COEX, a separate award ceremony was held for Grid, which was recognized for achieving first place in the VR (virtual world) metaverse contest conducted over the past four months and hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (hereafter, MSIT). At this award ceremony, Deputy Director Kim Jeong-sam of the MSIT Software Policy Office presented the award to CEO Choi Cheol-soon, who concurrently serves as CEO of both Eightone and Grid.

CEO Choi Cheol-soon expressed his award acceptance remarks, saying, “The various trials and errors experienced during the development process of the metaverse platform ‘MOIM’ have come together to bear good fruit, and as this meaningful achievement like the award approaches, we will strive even harder to realize a new world through the metaverse platform.”

Meanwhile, Grid’s self-developed metaverse platform ‘MOIM’ entered beta service on the 13th across platforms including Windows, Mac, iOS, Google Play, and Oculus Store. The metaverse platform ‘MOIM’ was developed aiming to be an open platform that integrates all real-life activities within another online virtual space, featuring functions such as ▲virtual university campuses, ▲exhibitions, ▲screenings, ▲viewings, conference functions, as well as virtual cultural industries and medical sectors.

Some functions of Grid’s metaverse platform ‘MOIM’ have also been demonstrated since the 13th at the ‘Metaverse Playground,’ a metaverse experience space operated within COEX. The ‘Playground’ provides users with opportunities to experience various metaverse contents blending reality and virtuality based on 5th generation (5G) mobile communication. It is an experiential exhibition project that offers developers a space to experience and utilize the infrastructure necessary for developing new metaverse content and services.
